Featured Family Winery — Byington Vineyards
Byington Winery, located in the western part of the Santa Cruz Mountain appellation is dedicated to the production of Chardonnay and Bordeaux style wines. It's owners, Bill and Mary Byington, originally from Idaho, came to California and purchased 95 acres in 1958. It originally was forestland overlooking the Monterey Bay.
After having preserved the land for thirty years, the Byingtons began planting vineyards on the steep mountainsides, and the winery began with it's vintage 1987 release. They have also acquired 200 plus acres in west Paso Robles that will be planted to Bordeaux and Rhone varietals.
A Renaissance man, both farmer and business, Bill Byington is dedicated to producing high quality individualized wines and to create a legacy for the next generation.
